A new 240K – the whole story

It all started with an email from a guy in melbourne to this website, he had owned his 240K hardtop since 1976. The coupe had travelled with him for a significant part of his life, and unfurtunately it was time for him to sell up in Australia, and return to his home country. He was looking for somebody to not only buy his car, but to continue giving it the love and attention that he had for so many years.

I agreed to help him find a buyer, and asked him to send through some pictures of the car. The only ones he had were relatively old, but he assured me that the car was still in good condition today. I couldn’t believe what i was seeing, if this car was truely in the condition that the photo’s suggested, it was going to be an amazing car..

I quickly decided to purchase the car myself (who doesn’t need another 240k just in case!) and organised to have the car shipping up to Sydney.

Rear brake setup photo’s

to fit the new rear crossmember bushes, we removed the rear end of the car which gave me the opportunity to grab a few more photos of the rear brake conversion. I was hoping that there would be some identifying mark’s on the disc’s but unfortunately there isn’t.

The first photo shows the banksia hand brake setup and the second shows the backing plate which is bolted onto the standard arm and the caliper mounting holes. I will get another photo showing the hand brake cylinder next time (it is underneath).

While i am at it, i am repainting the crossmember and trailing arms with black POR paint. It is interesting to see how messy the factory welds are on the crossmember.

KPGC110 GT-R Grill arrives

I have to give a big thanks to 2 guys in the US, firstly Chad for finally allowing me to convince him to sell it to me, and to Brian for picking it up and organising the shipping of it.

Finally, my original KPGC110 GT-R grill has arrived!

The grill’s centre section is made of metal, and the side sections are plastic. As you may be able to see, a small section of the metalwork has rust bubbles, but i am hoping to be able to restore it in the future (that is, if i can find a way to match the paint colour).
